CSSPSC holds CFWA 2010

The College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) welcomed its new members through the College Freshmen Welcome Assembly (CFWA) at the UP NISMED Auditorium on June 16.

With the nautical-inspired theme “Superfreshie”, the five-hour program included presentations from various UP Diliman offices, such as the Office of Counseling and Guidance (OCG), Diliman Interactive Learning Center (DILC), Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment (OASH), CSSP Office of Student Affairs (CSSP OSA), Office of the College Secretary (OCS), CSSP-based organizations and the eight departments of the college.

Departments orient freshies

The Department of Political Science (Pol Sci) welcomed its neopolitical science majors through the Pol Sci Department Orientation at Palma Hall 400 on June 21.

The four-hour program included speeches from Atty. Alex Lacson, Pol Sci alumnus, and from the Pol Sci faculty members such as Prof. Ruth Lusterio-Rico, Prof. Maria Ela Atienza, Prof. Jaime Naval and Prof. Perlita Frago-Marasigan introducing the students to the areas of the course. Th
program also included presentations from the four Pol Sci organizations: Association of Political
Science Majors (APSM), People-Oriented Leadership in the Interest of Community Awareness (POLITICA), Political Society (POLSCI) and Samahan sa Agham Pampulitika (SAPUL).

On the same day, the Department of Psychology (Psych), through the efforts of the UP Psychedelics, the Psychology core group, welcomed its freshmen through the Psych Freshmen Orientation Program at the Palma Hall Annex (PHAn) Lobby.

The three-hour program included speeches from Psych department chair Prof. Aurora Odette Mendoza about Psych Law and its implications to their curriculum, as well as the guidelines for Psych majors. The program also included performances from Psych organizations such as Buklod-Isip, PsychSoc, PsycA, Pugad Sayk, yearbook organizer Mandala and the Psychedelics.
