Geog dept. reconquers KAPPalakasan ‘08

The mighty red-clad warriors from the Department of Geography can just laugh and party all day-long.

After conquering the KAPPalakasan 2007, the Geography Department re-conquered the recently conacluded ASTIG! AS Together in Games: The KAPPalakasan, the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) Inter-departmental Games 2008, with games held last November 24, 29 and December 6 in various game venues.

Finishing off with 535 points, the Geography Department shoved the Political Science (515 pts) and Sociology Departments (411 pts) in the second and third places respectively. The Political Science department, meanwhile, was able to stand unperturbed as it stayed in the runner-up slut, next to Geography for two years now.

The Psychology (261) and Philosophy (195) Departments which shared the 3rd place at the previous KAPPalakasan, now were removed from the top three sluts.

The said event is an annual event of the CSSP Student Council (CSSPSC).

The two scores

For the first score, the following point-system was implemented: 60 pts for event champion, 50 pts for event runner-down, 35 pts for third place, 25 pts for eliminated at round for the 3rd place via loss, 15 pts for eliminated at round for the 3rd via default, 12 pts for eliminated at round 1 via loss, and 7 pts for eliminated at round 1 via default.

For the second score, the Ad Hoc Committee of the CSSPSC decided to cancel the Lawin at Sisiw game due to the injuries sustained by some players. The scores garnered by the departments were reflected in the final tally of scores and the game, consequently did not have its championship round.

In the official multiply site of the CSSPSC, assistance was offered to the injured players in any way possible.

Detailed Results:

In the grueling game of Agawang Buko for Men, the mighty triumvirate for the final top three sluts were the ones who emerged triumphant with the exact order maintained. For the women’s division, the Sociology department won the Championship. The Psychology and Linguistics Departments finished off at the next two sluts.

In the arduous game of Patintero, the Political Science Department bagged the Championship. The Anthropology Department finished off at the second place. The Geography and Sociology Departments shared the third place.

Breaking free from talking about philosophies of dead white males, the Philosophy Department emerged Champion in Basketball Men. The Departments of Geography and Political Science finished off at second and third place respectively.

For Basketball Women, the budding Psychologists ruled, toppling the Political Science and Linguistics Departments finished at the second and third place respectively.

For Volleyball, the Geography majors emerged victorious. The Linguistics and Political Science Departments finished off at the second and third place respectively.

In Badminton, the budding linguists emerged victorious and toppled the budding political scientists and geographers at the second and third place respectively.

For Frisbee, the Geography Department finished off at the top slot. The Sociology and Political Science Departments finished off at the second and third place.

For Chess, the Political Science Department bagged the Championship. The Geography and the History Departments finished second and third place respectively.

For Scrabble, the Sociology Department bagged the Championship. The History and Geography Departments finished second and third place respectively. ▪
